The Importance Of Reading Newspapers

We should be aware of what is happening in the world around us.Reading newspapers helps us to keep abreast of local,national,and international events.Apart from carrying political news,newspaper also cover cultural activities like music and theatre.Ther preview music concerts,review books and report on art exhibitions.Thery carry interviews with interesring personalities.They are humorous articles in newpapes.They are articles on the lastest trends in fashion.Many newspaper has column in which medical specialists answer your questions.They also have coulums where lawyers answer your queries on legal matters.

Newspapers also highlight civic problems in various areas in the city.If there is uncleared garbage in an area,the newspapers carry a picture of it,and a report on it.This is not only get civic authorities to do something about it,but also is a useful guide when you want to buy property.If an area has repeated power failure or water logging or bad roads,we can avoiding buying property there.

A newspaper through its editorials anaylses news and helps you to form an opinion about the topic being discussed.By reading editorials,you will be able to form an opinion whether a policy if the govenment is rightor wrong.You will be able to decide whether a particular was is justified or not.The Letter To The Editor column in newspapers premits you to express your opinion on a topic.You may disagree with an editorial of the newspaper,and you can express your disagreement through a letter to the editor.

With news programmes being available on T.V. both in the vernacular and English channels,the newspaper reading habit may be decliding.But we must remember that newspaper give us many things that T.V. news programmes do not.In a T.V. news programme there is no elaborate anaylysis of news.These programmes cannot discuss current topics elaborately in the half an hour allottted to them.So reading newspapers in a must.

Reading Engish newspapers will be of use to those who wish to read and write Engish grammatically.You could read the articles and editorials in a newspaper,and improve your skills in debating.You can also improve your vocabulary.You can underlines words whose meaning you do not know,and look these up in the dictionary.

Newspapers have been around for a long time.Despite news programmes on T.V. and radio,newspapers will continue to be widely read.It is newspapers that have guarded the rights guaranteed to us by to consitution.Everytime to goverment makes a mistake,it is newspapers that point it out to them.Th a democarcy,newspapers are necassary to keep a check on politicians and public servants.We must read newspapers and benefits from them.
